Terenten is heaven for riders! In the Icelandic Farm of the Schmids’ live 40 Island ponies. There’s a riding school, dressage arena and an indoor ménage for beginners and expert riders. Hiking in Terenten

Terenten offers a range of walk and hiking trails that lead up to the tops of mountains of 2700 – 2800 m above sea level, and further on up to the Earth pyramids and the Alps. And then, rest and recuperate in the mountain refuges, at the breathtaking sight of the most beautiful mountains all around you. Let us recommend the “Mühlenlehrpfad” path: over the earth-pyramids, it will take you to the old corn mills, that you’ll be able to visit from June to September on Mondays, from 10 am to 1 pm.

• In the surroundings of Terenten: the walking-tour “Panoramaweg”

The 4-hour long walk begins in the historical town of Terenten. Follow the Biotope Walk “Pichner Moos” and take the 1A path towards west up until Strichnerhof in Pein and continue the path signposted with 1. It goes further on towards Margen and to the snack bar Hauserhof. Above the earth pyramids, you will cross the Terenten valley at the height of the mills, and continue towards west until Walderhof and over the “Walderlaberstraße-Astweg” road and back until the starting point.

Daily-Mountain tour: over the Winnebachtal valley to the refuge Tiefrasten, lake Kompfoßsee, peak Eidechsspitze and back to town across the Terner valley
